Android Apps can only installed to main memory , at least officially. Apps2S has the ability to install downloaded apps to the SDcard, thus freeing up phone storage. One would expect the users will have the ability to install the app to the SD Card but according to PocketNow
The “problem” with the way Google implemented Apps2SD in Froyo that it’s up to the developer to toggle the switch to allow the app to be installed externally. Translated: not a single app of the 50,000+ in the Market today can be installed to the sdcard!
I would have preferred the opposite: for the user to select the preferred installation location (internal vs. external) and have all apps abide by that except where a developer specified otherwise.
I have to disagree with them.. on Windows Mobile at times you come across apps that have to installed to the Main memory for it to work and leaving this in the hands of the developers is a great idea. If they give you the option to install to SD card and Main memory you can choose what you want but if the app have to be installed to the main memory to work , the devs can disable install to SD card and you don’t have to worry about it.. what do you guys think ?
An anonymous user has tipped off xda-developers with an extremely detailed specsheet for the upcoming HTC Bravo ( a.k.a Desire). HTC Bravo is a high end Android device from HTC. Check out some real life spyshots of the device here and here
Remember the HTC Bravo now we have some real life images of the device. Its is also believed that TMobile UK will be getting the device soon. With a close-up shot of the HTC Bravo, you can clearly make out some kind of optical trackpad which replaces the traditional trackball found both on the Nexus One and DROID Eris.
When there is less restrictions to get the apps in to the marketplace its more likely that malicious apps like these will eventually get in. The app creates a shell of mobile banking apps that tries to gain access to a consumer’s financial information. The app in question has been removed from the Android Market. Its not clear how many customers were targeted by this phishing app. The app was named ” Droid09 ” so if you have downloaded it be sure to remove it straight away. More on this as it unfolds..
